Transforming Interior Space with Fresco Photography
“Along the design phase of Rome Luxury Suites, our idea was to bring Rome inside the three boutique hotels. When I met Diane Epstein, the photographer, she was able to collaborate beautifully by interpreting and expressing our vision of the overall look and feel of the interior space, and create over sixty large-scale fresco photographs, collages and architectural details for all the lobbies, suites, and public spaces, reflecting the mood and ambiance we desired. Thanks to the creative work provided by Diane Epstein the guests are now able to take a virtual stroll through the Eternal City inside Rome Luxury Suites.

New Installation of large-scale fresco photographs for Hotel Mario dei Fiori 37
Fresco Photography blends distinctive views of cityscapes, monuments, ancient stone and statues, hidden gardens, and sacred places. This photographic technique integrates multiple exposures of crumbling elements to illuminate the splendor of architecture and nature, as well as the imperfections that come from the passage of time. Fresco Photography takes us on a quest towards a new way of seeing and experiencing our environment. It transcends the boundaries of time, simultaneously illuminating the wonder of the present and the visceral remnants of the past.

This Roman collage includes three-hundred and twenty unique images, primarily of crackling walls, interspersed with “fresco photographs” of layered images of monuments and statues. The first print run of this twenty-six foot long collage has been acquired by the Rome Luxury Suites’ new boutique hotel annex at Babuino 35, located at the Spanish Steps. They are mounted on aluminum, and inlaid in the wall of the lobby.
